Indeed, the new premium version 4.x is not an upgrade to Pro 3.x, it is a completely
separate plugin. Therefore, if you are using version Pro 3.x, you will not see any
update for 4.x in your WordPress dashboard.
However, this does not mean that Pro 3.x is obsolete or discontinued. Pro 3.x remains
fully active and will continue to receive updates, maintenance, and support for
lifetime. It will never be discontinued.
